Stitches & Knots 101

If you haven’t noticed, I really like sewing. I stitch and sew on fabric and paper. I sew for embellishing and for putting things together. I hand sew and use my machine. But not everyone is very comfortable sewing!

I put together this little tutorial on basic hand stitches and knots. So, whether you are wanting to do a simple embellishment on your next project, repair a piece of cloth, or put something fun together, this should help!

We will cover:

  • Back stitch
  • Running stitch
  • Satin stitch
  • French knot / quilter’s knot
  • Buttonhole stitch
  • Whip stitch

We also explain what each stitch is used for with examples.
