You took these:
And made these:
My book entry: My nearly finished project using a book (I still need to add the rubber treads) I took this old Cosco chair/step ladder I found at a garage sale that had been painted over several times. I found black, pink and yellow paint as I began the stripping process. I have some old Encyclopedia Britannia’s and after paint stripping, sanding, sanding, and more sanding.. I was able to get a smooth enough finish to decoupage.
Potted Plant Wrap Took two hymnals apart, hot glued, painted, added transfers, stencils and clear coat. Oh and potted plant! Can’t figure out how to add pics of all 4 sides.
Stash of chipboard dies glued to book cover then I used metal foil tape in different lengths to cover. Distressed and inked for a more industrial look. Altered book will be a journal once I bind in junk pages.
I used a Ball canning jar metal ring, small 3×3 squares of book pages hot glued in with a wood pencil placed in center of the square to form a gathered up, ruffle “ cone” shape and glued the outside of the point to the inside of the metal canning ring. Hot Glued all around the center, then the outside and finished on the inside next to the first row. Finished it with a piece of twine for an hanger and used white ball sewing pins used as a hanger into the drywall. So fun to make! These can even be used as a taper candle ring!
My finished project using a book. The wings and skirt are made from the book cover and back. The skirt is then decoupaged with book page torn then I added some gelato crayon. The head is created from a July 4th decoration I cut up and added red rope for arms and legs. She can hang but I am putting her in my tiered tray.
VOTING is CLOSED— Thank you for participating! See updates for the winner
And these were some of your ideas for these:
I couldn’t find a shade at the time for this church rummage sale find. So my husband had the idea to get “old” Edison style bulbs and be done with it. I added some of my vintage camera goodies to hang from the arms of the lamp.
Recycle the lamp as a side table, cupcake stand, plant stand or towel rack.
I would paint the shade in chalk paint. I would then use decoupage paper to make a neat shade. Then add some metal accents.
Use old film slides and jewelry jump rings to make strips (use an awl to punch holes or a small punch in the cardboard of the slide) then remove the fabric/liner of the lampshade and assemble the film strips on the metal frame creating a new “shade”
